I created a bookmark for Press-It, but it gives this error:

You don’t have permission to access /m/yblog/wp-admin/post.php on this server.

I actually don’t remember the bookmarklet ever working in recent history. Any suggestions, or is there a firefox extension or something that would let me create a blog post in WordPress about a page I’m currently visiting? Thanks!

I’m on WP 2.0.5, too, if that helps. Thanks!

  • Where did you create the bookmarklet? In WP, at the bottom of every write post screen, is a bookmarklet that you can drag to your browser bar and use to do what you are looking for.

If you’re using wp pre-2.0.4, you can use Windows Live Writer (which has a plugin for firefox allowing “blog this” within the browser): https://windowslivewriter.spaces.live.com/blog/ (9/27/06 post); or the installer: https://g.msn.com/8SEENUS030000TBR/WriterMSI – and once it’s installed, get the plugin here: https://gallery.live.com/liveItemDetail.aspx?li=8eb2551a-49c1-45f9-b291-9b75241793a6&l=8

Yes, the bookmarklet at the botton of the posting screen is what I dragged to the bookmarks folder in Firefox. That’s the one that when I click on it, it goes to the posting page. But when I try and save the draft, or publish, it give the

403 Forbidden Error: You don’t have permission to access /myblog/wp-admin/post.php on this server.

    that I mentioned earlier.

WP pre-2.0.4 would be a problem, as I’m using 2.0.5, which I also mentioned above.

I actually came across this “Performancing” extension for Firefox today, which looks like it will do exactly what I want to do. It seems very slick, and for lack of anything else, looks like I’ll stick with it. Mostly it’s just annoying that the builtin features of WordPress appear to be broken. :-/

Yah, if you’re already at 2.0.5 performancing may be your best option. I’m not doing 2.0.5 a while yet, and I don’t like the “feel” etc. of performancing either. It’s a decent option if it’s the only one I guess…. I don’t know if they fixed the “non-validating code” it was throwing a while back….
