• I’ve used the Press it link for WordPress for sometime. In 1.5.2 the only problem I had (not resolved in 2.0) was that if you started a post and weren’t logged in, it gave you the login screen, but then the URL & post title had spaces, full stops etc., replaced (e.g. http3A2F2Fmfeldstein.com2Findex.php2Fweblog2Fpermalink2Fblackboard_by_the_numbers2F)
That’s not really a problem, as it’s quite easy to cancel & re “press it”, when it’s fine, as I’m by then logged in.

The other issue is a bit more worrying to me, as i don’t know what’s gone wrong; when I have saved the draft/ new post, it gives me an error screen, saying it can’t find a particular page. It seems to end up posting it OK, and I have to confess that I can’t remember what did show on 1.5 once you’d clicked the Publish … so, both are irritating, but not life or death!

However, if there’s a solution to either, then it would be nice to know!

    Thanks.

I’ve partially solved it. I was wondering if it was a firefox issue, as no-one else seems to have the same issue!

I therefore tried putting the press it link into IE; and discovered that it has a different appearance. As the writing window changed when I upgraded from 1.5.2 to 2 in Firefox, I assumed that though I’d not upgraded PressIT, the page that it was calling was a new one. However, I realised in IE that it was calling another page, so I deleted the PressIT button in Firefox & reinstalled.

    The situation I now have:
1: If I’m logged into WordPress, then I can write the post, and when I click Publish/ Save / etc., it reverts to the page that I’m blogging about (as it did before).

2: If I’m not logged in, then it creates a post with the // replaced with /%2 etc. If I then edit them to be as they should be, write the post & publish, I get the page not found & it’s appending the corrrupt URL to the end of the current one e.g. giving something like:

    https://www.tech.port.ac.uk/staffweb/duke-wie/blog/wp-admin/http%3A%2F%2Fwww.missouri.edu%2F%7Estricklanddg%2F4040unit1.htm
Now that I know that, it’s just going to be a case of clicking press it, logging in, closing the window (rather than anything else) & starting again.

IE also seems to have a problem if I try to pressit when logged out.
