• I found the following on the Press It (now Press This) function.

If you find something of interest on the Internet, you can click the Press It link and a window with your site’s Administration Write Post panel will popup with the page you are viewing listed as a link. You can then write about the page, assign a category, and add any other information and then press Save and it will be immediately posted on your WordPress site.

The Press It bookmarklet is found at the bottom of the Write Posts panel. Drag and drop it onto your

Favorites, Bookmarks, or Links list or toolbar.

To activate, simply click on the “Press It” bookmarklet link. A window will open with the URI of the current site displayed, and the site’s title as your post title.

It goes further, giving the javascript code that makes it work.

I would assume that by dragging and dropping to “Favorites” this would work, but it doesn’t do anything. Am I to assume that I am to somehow attach the js code to the favorites listing, or to create a file somewhere and refer to it in my favorites listing? The Codex doesn’t go so far as to say what to do with the javascript code.

Also, to give some of you an idea of how difficult it can be finding information on one’s own, I searched the documents for “Press It” and came up with nothing. When I tried searching on “bookmarklet” I got something with the heading of “Press It”.

I don’t know what the policy is on bumping posts, but mine is now 10 hours old, and lost on the third page.

Surely someone can help me out with this problem.

This is the third question I’ve asked on this forum, and none have been answered.

Drag and drop the link to your Favourites bar.

Then whenever you’re looking at a page on a site that you want to blog, click on ‘Press This’ in your Favourites. That should open a post window as described in the section you’ve included.

Well, thank you for the response. However, as I said, in my perhaps overlong post, that’s exactly what I did, except I couldn’t drag and drop it, so I copied and pasted it. The point is, it doesn’t do anything when I click on it in my My Favorites.

You haven’t mentioned what browser you’re using. It works fine for me in Firefox 3, but in IE7 it doesn’t pop-up a new window due to the pop-up blocker (this is on XP Pro for both). On IE7 after the pop-up blocker complains, it sends the whole window to the press-this.php page.

Are you sure you have the entire link in your Favourites? I just checked mine and noticed some of it was missing, so updated it with the entire link.
