• Hi all, I’m having a heck of a time getting pressbooks working. I’ve been trying for weeks, even having godaddy switch over my hosting account to different servers.

Here’s the issue as I see it,

    1. I can get PB installed, (UI changes to PB red)
    2. I get the Themes activated
    3. network is all set up.
    4. I create the new site. when you submit, it takes me to a too many redirects page.
    5. I then try and access the new site using the dashboard, but takes me to same redirects page
    6. I check the server, no files have been created.

What am I doing wrong here? I’ve tried installing this on my local synology server. Same conclusion. Godaddy server. same conclusion.

I really want to start using it to create eBooks, but at this point….I’ve wasted 2 weeks and had no more luck at getting it to work.

Hi @captainz3ro, it sounds like you have an htaccess error. Did you install as subdomain or subdirectory? What is in your .htaccess file?

Also—you won’t be able to generate ebooks if you are using Pressbooks on GoDaddy. You won’t be able to install many of the dependencies there.

Hi, it was installed as a subdirectory.

I actually got a godaddy support tech to install it for me. Apparently there was a conflict in the persmissions folder the “theme-books” directory. Once that was corrected, the tech got it to install. That being said, that didn’t fix the install issue on my local synology. At first I tried to export out an EPUB and it seemed to work. Once I added content though, added chapter to the export, it failed during export.

So, back to the dependencies issue. Can you explain that? Godaddy seemed willing to work with me when I explained the need to set up a publishing platform.
