• I use this plugin primarily for the sections and columns. It does the job but it could be better. Here’s my suggestions (from simple to harder) to improve it:

    1. Remove the limitation of 1200px for contained width
    2. Provide settings for default padding and margins. It’s a bit of a mess with all the pre-defined margins and paddings on sections and columns. It’s painful and error prone having to adjust padding and margins block by block.
    3. Allow columns to be moved – currently it’s a real pain if you want to move content around. (even if column copy and paste worked it would help somewhat – I see there is a copy but no paste!)
    4. Provide rows as well as columns. Ok, you could add new sections for each row but here’s an example of a common thing that I find myself wanting to do: 6 boxes – 3×2 in desktop switching to 2×3 in tablet width and 1×6 in mobile.

    Hey @acurran,

    1. Thank you for the feedback, we will see what we can do it. Most likely we can increase it to 1800px.
    2. You can already set up default margins/paddings. Please see this picture on how to do it: https://nimb.ws/EJiN3T – these will be appended by default to any new section that you make.
    3. We already tested with this feature and it turns out to not work properly-currently with our block so we’re working on implementing properly.
    4. The setting that you described really won’t be possible with that approach either. The approach right now would be to make three columns and make them conditional visible on certain screensizes. Columns & responsive layout are very hard to do in a block-based enviornment.

Let us know if you have any follow up questions or feedback!

    1. 1800 should be sufficient for most cases, but why even have a limit?
    2. That’s great – I did not even know that was there! It’s a bit unintuitive to have the global settings on the edit page/post, but at least now I know where it is! This feature makes it worth changing my rating from 3 to 4 stars.
    3. Good to hear that you are working on it, it will be a big improvement for the plugin.
    4. I have a suggestion that I think would be relatively easy to implement: if you set up 6 columns you already have the ability to collapse it to 3×2 for tablet or mobile breakpoints. So all you need to do is allow the 3×2 option (or any of the to be selected for desktop breakpoint. https://imgur.com/lMSKI0z

    1. If we keep using a range field, there has to be some limit, else using the field will just be a bad experience. We can always replace it with a number field but that’s more error-prone.

    2. It’s not unintuitive but yea, it’s also not very discoverable. We will surely make some changes in the future to make it more noticeable. Like a tour for new users or a link to it on the Otter settings page.

    4. Ahaa, I get it. We’ve been working on this release for a while now and it’s already been a bit late but yea, we will surely add this feature for ToDo in the release after this one.

    Thank you for your feedback!

    1. Ok I see. 1800 will be a reasonable choice for upper range limit. If you want to make it maximum flexible you could have a global setting somewhere for upper and lower range limits.

Great that you are working on point 3 and that you get the value of 4 – once they are implemented this plugin will be a ***** plugin IMHO. Cheers.
