Pretty permalinks, GoDaddy domain forwarding and 1&1 hosting
-
I’ve Googled my question to death and searched hi and low in the forums, but still can’t seem to find a solution! I sense because I don’t know the full scope of my problem, I’m unable to find an answer, so I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
The problem (I think):
I have pretty permalinks set up on my blog, but as a result of my domain forwarding to a pretty nasty-looking 1&1 url (ex: https://s2302934.onlinehome.us/name/blog), they don’t work.
Basically, I’m trying to set up forwarding so that “https://s2302934.onlinehome.us/name/blog/2011/01/01/blog-post-title/” is essentially “https://www.website.com/2011/01/01/blog-post-title/”
The domain forwards just fine, but when I go to click on the individual post links, I get a 500 error.
My current set-up:
– On 1&1: Under Domain Settings, I’ve added https://www.website.com with its home directory destination set to “…/name/blog/”
– On GoDaddy: forwarding to https://s2302934.onlinehome.us/name/blog/ without masking. Reset nameservers to 1&1’s
– On WordPress’ Gen’l Settings: WordPress URL = https://s2302934.onlinehome.us/name/blog/. Site URL = https://www.website.com. Right now I have permalinks set as “ugly” because that’s the only way it works.
I tried my damnedest to figure it out myself, but no luck. Any help or even a hint would be greatly appreciated!
