Prevent Autogenerating alt=”” for images

I purposely don’t put any alt text for images. I leave it blank. The website, however, is generating an alt text for each image (based on product name or category name) and it is causing issues with my translation plugin. I don’t want any autogenerated alt=””. Is there a way to force it to be blank or to just use the word “image” for it?
