Is there a way I can prevent users from editing comments after they’ve posted them to my blog? At least set it up so they can’t edit them after like 15 minutes or something.

Right now I have registration disabled, because that’s the only way that I’ve found to let people make comments, and not be able to edit or delete them.

Comments can’t be edited or deleted by anyone lower than an Editor user role unless you are providing that functionality via a plugin.

Are you providing that functionality via a plugin?

I don’t think so. I just installed WordPress. It’s my first time using it. When I create a comment it gives me the option to edit the comment later.

I would like registered users to be able to comment on the posts, but I don’t want them to be able to edit or delete their comments. Once they submit something it becomes part of the Web site.

Edit option are available to admin

Right, as mentioned, “comments can’t be edited or deleted by anyone lower than an Editor user role.”

When you’re logged in, you’re an Administrator, which is why you can edit comments.

Try logging out, then leave a comment and see if you can edit it.

Well I couldn’t edit a comment when I logged out before. But I figured that was because I wasn’t registered/logged in.

As least I know user can’t edit comments now, so I can enable the registration feature.
