Prevent Image Uploads Default Link

    Every time that an image is uploaded to WordPress (or any file I think) WordPress automatically fills in the link URL with the attachment post for this attachment. I was wondering if anyone knew of a function or plugin or some kind of hack to do either of the following:

    1. Never put anything in the link box – leave it blank until the user clicks on what they want to link to or types in their own link.
    2. Even better and the preferred option, always links to the file rather than the attachment without having to press ‘File URL’
