• This is a simple question that I can’t quite figure out. On my wordpress 2.2 website an image or media file can be viewed and in the url box this is shown :

    https://website/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/picture.jpg

if I just remove the image from the url like :

    https://website/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/

all the contents of that upload directory is shown. How can I prevent this to be shown? Most websites seem to show a “this page does not exist” error message or even take you back to the homepage. I would like to have this setup rather then the whole directory listed. Is this something I can change via file permissions or something other? Any advance appreciated. Thanks

  • It has to do with your web server set up. Ask your host to have a look at it and make sure directory browsing is turned off.
