    Hey there,

I am using the subscription widget from Jetpack (and aditionally the follow button from wordpress.com).

Well, since a few weeks I am experiencing a hell of a lot of spam subscriptions, mainly via email subscription.

At first I was happy when my followers suddenly increased, but when I looked at the email addresses, it was clear that about 90% of the “followers” are plain spam.

Is there ANY way to prevent this?

    Thanks in advance.

Hi Ryan, it’s https://www.booknerds.de – you’ll find the form in the footer and also in the sidebar, when viewing a post.

Thanks for the link! I had a look at your site, and I see what you mean. You can manage your Jetpack subscribers by going to the People menu for your site on WordPress.com:
    https://wordpress.com/people/email-followers/

There, you’ll see a tab named Email Followers, where you will be able to delete any subscriber you don’t want to see. I hope this helps!

    Hi Ryan,

cool to know that there is a possibility to delete unwanted followers. Thanks for that. Unfortunately there are a lot to delete – bulk deleting would be fine.

Hopefully there is a future possibility to prevent spam subscribers.

It’s definitely something that’s on our radar! I’ll mark this as resolved as we do now have the tool on WordPress.com where you can remove followers.
