Preview not working when WordPress address is a subdomain?
-
Hey guys! I am BRAND new to WordPress but somewhat technically savvy. Here are the facts:
1) I have installed WP in https://www.mydomain.com/blog
2) I have a subdomain set up to be blog.mydomain.com
3) In my General Settings, my “WordPress Address” is https://mydomain.com/blog
4) In my General Settings, my “Blog Address” is https://blog.mydomain.comNow, I understand that changing my “Blog Address” can make things complicated, but I figured the subdomain URL should be interchangable with the full https://www.mydomain.com/blog URL. And so far, everything works just as I’d hoped. I am able to post and view posts all through the subdomain URL. All the auto generated links seem to work.
The only problem is that if I have a private/draft posting and I try to preview it, I get a “you do not have permission” error or a 404 error, depending on where I start from. The weird part is that I get that error when trying to access the “subdomain” version it generates for me, e.g. https://blog.mydomain.com/blog/2010/01/16/testing123/ but if I get clever and try to hit the “subfolder” version of that URL (e.g. https://www.mydomain.com/blog/2010/01/16/testing123/), then miraculously it works.
So it seems clear that though WP has no problem working with my subdomain for my regular public postings, somehow it’s not recognizing or translating the subdomain in the same way for private/draft posts. Any experts out there know why this might be? More importantly, is there any configuration tweak I can do to resolve this?
Thanks in advance!!!
