• I replied to another thread ( https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic.php?id=10143 ) about the issue I’m currently having HERE. I got ignored so I’m starting a new thread, I hope that’s OK since I do have different issues now. I installed the Comment plugger hack and I’m getting all sorts of errors like you will see on the page. I’ve tried to fix the errors but no avail, I think it’s filled with bugs which is quite annoying.

Does anyone know of another [Moderated] plugin that I can use?

  • It’s always helpful to supply as much information as possible to the forums when asking for help. For example, you have a specific error as follows:
Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING in /home/unchaine/public_html/wp/my-hacks.php on line 15
This kind of information is very helpful to people who volunteer their time and efforts on the forums. As well, it’s not difficult to be courteous and polite either, and making callous remarks about a plugin or hack is not necessary nor is it appreciated by anyone.

If you want help, then please be patient, and most of all, curb the attitude.

What version of WordPress are you using? What things did you change when you installed the plugin? If you deactivate this plugin, does your site function normally?

Firstly, I apologize for being a bit hasty and impatient in my last post. I had no right to act like that especially with the fact that you guys are offering support free of charge and it probably is time-consuming for all of you developers.

I’m using WordPress version 1.2.2. and it was installed via Fantastico (Cpanel) , not manually.

I simply created a my-hack.php file and put the little snippet in the index.php and if I deactivate this plugin it goes back to ordinary, like nothing ever happened.

I also am very particular about the fact that I want the last entry’s commenters plugged, not the current entry so I used a modified version of the link plugin that allowed that exact feature after discovering the original plugin also brought up errors. Unforunately, as I’ve already taken note of, the modified version also brings up errors.

If the error said “unexpected $ on line (# here)” I’d try to fix it, but it’d bring up the unexpected Constant Encapsed String error all over again, and that’s beyond my puny and small PHP knowledge to fix.

Oh yeah and another question.. Is it possible that this plugin could have a virus that could infect WP?

To answer your question about a plugin containing a virus, well, I suppose that any script that runs code on a server could indeed contain something malicious. I always virus-check all my files before using them, including all downloads of WP core files. It’s just a good habit to develop, and that way you more or less cover your butt.

My PHP knowledge is very limited so I will have to defer the other question to the more capable folks around. Also, have you explored the possibility of a similar plugin being available?

https://wp-plugins.net is a good place to start looking.

    Thanks for the link.
I haven’t been able to find any plugins yet ?? I really do have my heart set on having a plug commenters plugin and I won’t give up looking.

That’s a good suggestion to virus-check your files. I should do that also, I agree it’s a good habit to develop.
