  • Bump! Same problem.

@fredericlabadie: It is considered impolite to interrupt another poster’s ongoing thread unless you are posting a solution or suggestion. As per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic.

Well… It didn’t feel like I was interrupting before. Just expressing that it’s a multi-person issue. Creating a bunch of the same issue post has been frowned upon on other forums. I didn’t want someone to refer me to a developing thread when I post an exact replica of the above question… But explaining all this does feel a bit like hijacking this thread.

@esmi Do you by any chance have a solution or is this just an admonition?

@fredericlabadie: These forums have guidelines. Please read them. As you will see, one of these guidelines – entitled Where to Post – specifically states:

Unless you are using the same version of WordPress on the same physical server hosted by the same hosts with the same plugins, theme & configurations as the original poster, do not post in someone else’s thread. Start your own topic.

    Please abide by this.

@mccawphoto: apologies for this interruption to your topic.

It would be really awesome if someone could post a solution to this. I really like this plugin except for this issue but I need to get it corrected soon.

    Thanks!

I’m afraid I’m not familiar with this plugin, so I can only suggest that you:

    – check that you are running the latest version of the plugin
    – try deactivating all other plugins.
    – try switching to the default 2014 theme.

    Hi mccawphoto,

Have you tried deactivating other plugins to look for a conflict, or switching to a default theme like Twenty Twelve as esmi suggested? If you can isolate this as an issue that’s inherent to The Events Calendar, we’d be happy to look into it further. Unfortunately, we can’t help troubleshoot conflicts here on the free forum.

    Leah,

I finally got some time and I deactivated all plugins and one by one turned them back on until I found the one causing the problem. It is Formidable Pro. I have tried looking in the browser console but I don’t see any errors. I appreciate any help on fixing this. I use Formidable all the time and would be seriously bummed if we can’t make this work with Formidable activated.

    Thanks!

I did some more digging and talked to tech support for the Formidable plugin and this is what they told me:

“Both plugins are registering the jQuery placeholder script.?https://jslgj.com/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/vendor/jquery-placeholder/jquery.placeholder.min.js?https://jslgj.com/wp-content/plugins/formidable/js/jquery/jquery.placeholder.js
One is minified, but it should be exactly the same. That jQuery placeholder script doesn’t come with a minified version, so it seems like their version is very different. Can you contact them and ask them what they have modified in that script?”

Can you tell me what you modified in that script?

    Anybody out there?

I really like this plugin except for this issue and would like to keep using it but I need to solve this issue. As you can see in the above post I have pinpointed the issue. Can you please respond?

    Thanks!

    Howdy mccawphoto,

We are simply using the stock essentially unmodified 2.0.7 version of the jquery-placeholder script. It is true that we include a minified version to optimize page load times, but the minifed version should be functionally equivalent.

If there is an issue between our plugin and Formidable, we would definitely be interested in working with Formidable and resolving it if they are willing. I will bring this to my team lead’s attention, and if we can recreate the problem locally then I am sure we can get in touch with Formidable and see about working out incompatibilities in future releases of our respective plugins.

Thank You! Can you let me know if you will be pursuing this further after talking to your team lead?

Is there any way I could make it so that the scripts for The Events Calendar only load on the pages it is used?

    Thanks!

I told the Formidable Pro technical support what your reply was and this is what they said:

“Technically, Formidable isn’t loading the script. Both plugins are
registering the script under the same name and the other plugin loads
it. Due to the order the plugins are loaded in WordPress, the script
Formidable registers is overriding their script. Their plugin should
work correctly with either the minified or unminified version. There’s
not much we can do to work together, but we need them to load the
unminified version that is distributed, and make sure their plugin
    works with it as well.”

Can you please help resolve this?

    Thanks!
