Just updated to V2.1 (free version), reconnected to Paypal. Now when submitting a form and going to Paypal to pay, Paypal shows a white page with just “Price can’t be empty.” We are using 0.00 for the price so the user can enter the dollar amount when they get to Paypal. This worked before the plugin update. What do we need to change to allow the user to enter an amount?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Anyone have any ideas how to fix this? We rolled back to version 2.0 in December.

    Hi @paul-hartman,

Sorry for the delayed reply to this.

The plugin was using PayPal Standard before version 2.1, which supported passing 0.00 amounts and that allowed the user to enter whatever they wanted for the price.

PayPal Standard is unfortunately being depreciated, so that means we had to move the plugin to now using PayPal Commerce. PayPal Commerce does not support this feature.

There are two options. Either you keep using version 2 of the plugin. It should continue to work fine without issue. Although PayPal Standard is depreciated, PayPal has not given any dates as to when it will actually stop working.

Our pro version does have a feature which allows passing a form field to the price (https://wpplugin.org/documentation/link-an-input-field-the-the-price/) – which would allow a user to enter a custom amount and that will get passed to PayPal Commerce.

I’m sorry that the way the plugin works has changed. I need to update the documentation in the plugin to better reflect this change, and for that I apologize for the inconvenience.

Let me know if I can be of more help or if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,
    Scott

Thanks for the explanation. It’s more than annoying that Paypal changed something that we rely on. I have several clients using the plugin (some using the Pro version). I will see if the free ones want to upgrade.
