    Hello,
When I print a new USPS shipping label after a customer’s order, the shipping cost is displayed on the (easypost) label that goes on the package sent to the customer. How do I remove that displayed cost from the (easypost) shipping label?

    Hi @storyteller1,

Creating a test USPS (easypost) label today on my install I’m not seeing any monetary costs displayed on the printed label below.

    Hi Stuart,
Your test USPS easypost label says it is for a “Flat Rate Sml Box”

I was trying to ship a padded envelope. When I got to the shipping label options, Woocommerce only gave me three options to select from:
    1) First Class Flat
    2) Media Mail
    3) Priority Mail

I needed and wanted to choose “First Class Package /Parcel” but there was no option to select this. So I was forced to choose First Class Flat, which I have been told displays the postage amount on the label. The post office also told me that I should not use the First Class Flat rate for my padded envelope package anyway, and that I should use “First Class Package” for padded envelopes. However, WooCommerce won’t even give me the Fist Class Package option!

Why am I not allowed to choose First Class Package as an option in WooCommerce shipping and how can this be corrected?

    Hi @storyteller1,

To configure what shipping packages you wish to be available you can add or remove those by navigating to WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping > WooCommerce Shipping.

The packages can then be selected when purchasing a shipping label from the edit order screen of WooCommerce.

You can read more about packages within the WooCommerce Shipping & Tax plugins documentation which I’ve referenced below for you.

I have already done all of what you’ve outlined above.

I have configured the shipping package here:
    Woo1

I have selected the appropriate package from the edit order screen of WooCommerce here:
    Woo2

But WooCommerce will only give me 4 shipping options shown here:
    Woo3

WooCommerce is only offering me the USPS “First Class Large Envelope Flat” rate:
    https://pe.usps.com/text/dmm300/Notice123.htm#_c037

WooCommerce is not offering me the USPS “First Class Package/Parcel” rate:
    https://pe.usps.com/text/dmm300/Notice123.htm#_c038

    So my only options are:
    1) to select the cheapest First Class Large Envelope Flat rate, which the Post Office told me I CANNOT USE or else may be returned to me because my packages are padded envelopes that need the higher package/parcel rate. This Flat rate option also DISPLAYS THE POSTAGE AMOUNT ON THE SHIPPING LABEL.

    or

    2) pay for the much higher Priority or Express mail rates, which are too expensive and would cause me to lose money on the every sale.

I need the USPS “First Class Package/Parcel” rate to show up in this last step to choose the shipping rate.

I hope you see clearly that something is wrong here with the plugin regarding it not showing this rate. Please fix this or show me how to fix it.

    Thanks

    Hi there @storyteller1,

    Price displayed on labels

The price is displayed on First Class Mail in the same way that the cost of USPS postage is displayed on an envelope with stamps. This is a USPS oddity and is not something we can change in the extension.

First Class Mail vs First Class Package

The WooCommerce Shipping extension does offer First Class Package rates; however, it is displayed as “First Class Mail,” which technically covers both First Class Mail and First Class Package rates. Our team is looking into making this distinction clearer, and you can follow along with that here.

For now, you can tell which rate is being returned by checking the label; if the First Class Mail rate has the line “Includes USPS Tracking…“, it is a First Class Package. If it has nothing, it’s First Class Mail.

    Getting First Class Package rates

The difference in rate depends on the package used. USPS accepts envelops under 3/4 inch of thickness with First-Class Mail. However there are restrictions on this service; this page is a good resource.

In short: Envelopes, bags, and padded mailers are flexible packaging. What it measures when empty can be very different than when it’s packed with items. So, the entered dimensions of the package should reflect its actual dimensions when packed.

To get First Class Package rates, the dimensions of the package must be over 0.75 in. Changing the package to .76 in thick will return First Class Package rates in this case.

I hope this helps explain it!

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
