• Inside the “Menu” page it claims that “The current theme does not natively support menus…” but I have used this theme before and it did, and in the preview and the way it displays the page there is clearly a menu created for me (which uses all my pages as menu items.)
I am not a programmer and rely on the WP software for everything. I do have WP use experience but have never faced this issue. This issue is happening on many themes, not just this one.

Please help if you know what the problem may be to allow me to set a primary nav menu and get rid of the listing of all the pages as the current menu.

  • Do you mean the “Menu” link under the appearence tab in wp-admin? Im under the opinion that links not there without this in your themes functions.php add_theme_support( 'menus' ); check if you have that in functions.php if not add it right at the bottom above your closing ?> tag and see if that helps, if it doesnt then remove it..

I have the link under “appearance”, but once in the menu page there is a box labeled “Theme Location” where you can normally select your primary navigation menu you’d like to use for the site. In this “Theme Location” box it claims that “The current theme does not natively support menus, but you can use the “Custom Menu” widget to add any menus you create here to the theme’s sidebar.”
I have used this exact theme before and didn’t have this issue however I don’t think the problem is with this specific theme since it occurs on nearly every other theme I’ve tried. Though it claims the theme does not support menus, it has created a menu for me of all the pages on my site. locate or change the menu it has pre-created.

I am experiencing the same issue, did you manage to find a solution? I really like this theme but cannot get the menu navigation to work either.

I’m having this problem too. Anyone else find a fix?

I found this theme a year ago but can’t use it because the sub navigation menu does not work. Really need a solution!

Actually guys, if you go to his website:https://atastypixel.com/blog/wordpress/themes/elegant-grunge/
He has a NEWER version of his theme that allows for your own custom menu. I just downloaded it and it works like a dream.

I tried downloading v 1.1 but the HOme menu items does not align with the other Primary nav menu items. and now my header does not display.
