    Hi Michael,

Was really hoping, a new YOAST support specialist would take the effort to look properly in my message & images.

Wrote in the last message, that I have a new website, so the URL CAN BE ANYTHING, also a SUB-categorie. I added an image where you can see the ‘1 or 3 sims active’ is now a SUB-category. As I wrote in the previous message it still not working.

Your colleague Maybellyne tested it with subcategories and stated that it works very fine.

I also inquired for some clarifications, I numbered those. Please clarify as well why you refer to the product permalinks /product/%product_cat%/

I provided the necessary information & images. Can you explain what I’m not doing correct with the subcategory and/or permalinks? Thank you.

    Hi @ivarb

We referred to the product permalinks as

    /product/%product_cat%/

because it was what you posted as the custom base for your product permalinks as in your screenshot here — https://snipboard.io/S2eIBa.jpg

We’ll have to clarify further regarding the product category working with subcategories without the Yoast WooCommerce SEO plugin (and we’ll get back to you on that), but as per my initial testing, the ‘primary category’ function works for default posts, but you’ll need the Yoast WooCommerce SEO plugin, if you want the %product_cat% in the permalinks to show the primary category defined for your products.

Well, I was waiting on your input!

Well your colleague could make it for subdirectories, why is this suddenly a problem?

It looks like very much you’re stalling, so I just leave it here and there’s no solution for the subcategory. So I also need to buy your paid plugin. Right in the beginning it was clear what I want. All the time you & your colleague are not reading my messages well, not clarifying my inquiries and giving meaningless replies.

Looks like Yoast put Sales before Support. You’re a Dutch company.

You could have stated right from the start, that “it only works with the WooCommerce SEO plugin”. So I didn’t have to put all the effort to give the information, to support you in solving this.

All readers, will read & read with the hope to solve this problem, to see no solution in the end. Also not for subcategories. Yes … buy the plugin. Google would rate a longer thread for Primary categories better, if the thread is longer.

Your free Yoast SEO plugin gives the option to make categories Primary. Then later to find out that you need to pay for another plugin to actually use it.

Well there are plenty of good other SEO plugins, with many installs & high ratings, like:
    - Rank Math
    - All in One SEO
    - SEOPress
