• Hi,
How do I make my entire WordPress blog private, accessible only to those with a password?
I’ve gone to Settings > Privacy, but I don’t see an option to make the blog private.
I am running the latest version of WordPress.
    Thank you.

  • instead of going through every single post to change the privacy setting in the ‘status’ dropdown to ‘private’

you can batch edit page-fulls of posts from your dashboard
    – access the Posts index and select all posts
    – from ‘bulk options’ pick ‘edit’, and apply
    – change the privacy setting in the ‘status’ dropdown to ‘private’
(you can edit how many ‘posts per page’ in the index under’screen options’ to increase the batch count)

how to make all posts private+password, not sure, that thing is confusing… is that password-protection so that permitted others can access special viewing of my blog?? or is it like only my ‘friends’ on Livejournal can view certain posts when logged into Livejournal??

Not sure, but thanks for your workaround.

I am building/designing a prototype website and because it is not finished, I would not like it viewable at all by the public. That includes posts, pages, front page, everything.

Does anyone out there know how to make a site password protected so the admin can work on and view the page but nobody else can see it?

I currently use a “Coming Soon” theme, but would prefer password privacy.
    Thank you.
