• I’ve been having this issue with the plug-in over the last two weeks or so. Anytime I edit the Private ID of a new participant it just defaults to random characters for some reason. I can put “12345” in, submit the form and it instantly becomes a random assortment of characters. It’s become a bit of a burden because I have to go back and edit the participants quite a bit…finding which one I need to edit is a pain. Any idea what is causing this? Thank you!

It’s an internally-managed field, so that’s why it’s not letting you edit it. It’s my fault, really, I shouldn’t have allowed admins to edit that field, because it doesn’t work.

Perhaps you can describe what you’re trying to do, why you need to edit the private ID, there may be an easier solution.

I’ve been using the plug-in for a few months and haven’t had any issues until recently. Pretty strange.

In regards to how I’m using it…all of my participants are listed here https://www.therouteexchange.com/routes-for-sale/ They are actually business listings. Each business for sale is its own participant. I name them something short…like “VendFL” so that if I need to edit the listing I can go into the “List Participants” menu and find the one I need quickly. When they are random characters I have to go into each one until I find the right participant. Not a big deal really but a minor inconvenience for sure.

OK, well, you can add “private ID” to the admin list (by giving it an admin column number in the field definition) and it will print as a clickable link to your frontend edit page.

Or, you can click on the pencil icon to edit the record in the backend.

I can click the pencil/edit icon and try to change the PrivateID after I create the participant but it still doesn’t change it. For example I just tried to make a private id of “OKC123” and after I submitted the participant it was listed as “QQOH7”. I tried to edit and I can’t change it at all.

No, you can’t change the private ID. I suggest you add “Private ID” to the admin list by giving it a column number on the Manage Database Fields page. On that page, look under the “Record Info” tab, then give the “Private ID” field a value under “Admin Column”

After doing that, you will see the private ID value in the admin list, and if you have the “Participant Record Page” configured, you can click on it to get to the frontend edit page.
