This one is fairly simple. It appears that private lessons are not assignable to courses.

I have created a bunch of lessons, which are set to private. Only when setting them to public can I then assign them to courses.

I’m not sure if this is a bug or a feature, I cannot find it mentioned anywhere in the docs.

    Hi creativenorthmedia,

    Thank you for reaching out.

The reason you are experiencing this behavior is due to the visibility logic of courses and lessons. Since a course is set to public, any lesson assigned to that course also needs to be set to public. This ensures that all items within the course are visible to users when they are taking the course.

In other words, for a public course to display its content correctly to users, the lessons within that course must also be public. This is why you are unable to assign private lessons to a public course.

I hope this clarifies the situation. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask.

    Best regards,
    brianvu

oh yes of course, that actually makes sense. I suppose it would be helpful to have some kind of indication that changing those settings would give access. Perhaps listing the lessons but greyed out with “change to public to assign” would be useful.

I assume I can still make private courses?

Hi @briantp It appears there is an issue with this logic.

Currently I have the course set to private and the lessons set to private, however I still cannot see the lessons from that course.

If I set the course to private but the lessons to public, I can see the lessons and add them to the course.
