• * Draft: This status allows you to save your article, however it will not show up and allows you to save it for further writing/editing.
    * Publish: In this status, your article will appear on your website and is live to the public.
    * Private: Your post is published, however it will not appear on your website unless the author is logged into the website.

The WIKI is worded like they should at least be able to be viewed “live” by the author, but it’s not working like that:
Plus, is there any way I can make it so ALL logged in authors can view all “private” posts (Even through the site, while logged in – not just in the admin pages) but that regular users cannot?
Any ideas how we can do this some other way? I need to be able to post articles without them going public, but still be able to browse them – something the Edit screen makes too cumbersome (there will be like, 50+ entries.) It would also be nice to have the comments feature enabled while doing this.

  • Does it even work? I could never get it to show, except through the “Edit Posts” area of the admin screens. Based on the description up there, I should have been able to see it when I hit the website.

No, I can’t see them except through the edit/Manage screen – which doesn’t make any sense.. what’s the difference between “private” and “draft”??
I just upgraded to 1.3 to see if that would help, and it didn’t.

I know about that thread too. Is there a difference between a draft and a Private article? (I’m assuming maybe that other authors can’t see your Private drafts??)
Is this a bug or a feature?

I think we’re the only ones reading this thread. ??

I noticed this about the private option. Did not understand what it was trying to do so I just use the ViewLevel plugin and it works great.
Have you tried it out? It is very easy and you can set privacy based on what level user you want to see it.

I’ve been trying to use it, but the site is down. Do you have the archive still?

this subject seems to come up quite often, but hasn’t been definitively addressed. Although the Wiki says private posts can be viewed, I’ve never seen it work. I have the viewlevel plugin and would be glad to send it to whomever since the host site is down (has been for a coupla days now). This plugin is the only thing that I’ve found will show private posts on the site based on user defined set up, otherwise – I’d be back to looking up my private posts in the edit screen.

    It’s like the dev’s redheaded step-bug or something. ??

I think it’s a mistake in the Wiki. The documentation in the Mingus release doesn’t mention what the Wiki says.

So what’s the point of a Private post? Isn’t it the same thing as a draft?

    thanks

So is it possible to make a post viewable to maybe…a few IP’s? I don’t really have a lot of friends who are authors, etc. Please e-mail me @ [email protected]
