• How do I create private posts/pages in 2.0? In 1.2 I’d use the advanced editing page, but this doesn’t seem to exist anymore.

The Writing_Posts page in Codex says “Typically, the basic mode is the default for writing new posts, but that can be changed with the When starting a post option in the Writing Options SubPanel of the Options Administration Panel.” However, there is no “When starting a post” option in the Writing Options SubPanel; the Codex page for the subpanel confirms this.

    Thanks,

  • On the Write -> Post page, how about using the “Password” section over to the right? (You might have to click on the little “+” to expand things in the right side column).

    Is that what you’re after?

Thanks, but that’s not quite what I need, because it means I need to type a password whenever I want to read the post (annoying for me), and that others can see that the post exists and read the title. I’d rather other users couldn’t even tell that the post exists.

I’ve discovered that, for posts, there’s a “Post Status” that can be either Published, Draft or Private. Is there any way to have a Private (not password protected) page?

I password protected the directories of my WP install through the web host. I use my blog to record client interactions and information so employees and clients are the only ones I want even reading the title. This has worked for me for a while and people can’t even get the blog to show at all without a password.

I did it through my host’s control panel, so I can’t give you suggestions on how to go about it without a c-panel enabled web host.

Not sure if that helps, but we only need to log-in once at the beginning of the day.
