• Hello.

I am thinking of building a website in WordPress, but I want to be sure that the URL address is not indexed (none of the web pages or documents belonging to the site should be indexed by search bots like Google, etc.).

Which is the best way to make sure of that?? I think adding proper tags in the META area of the template would be enough, but I am not sure about it. Maybe a WP plugin about “private” content could help, but there are several of them. Which of them would you recommend me?

    Thank you in advance.

“I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors”

Part of the WordPress by default.

Bottom line: if it’s on the Web, you cannot block search engine bots 100% effectively. Not all will honour meta tags or robots.txt

When setting up your wordpress site you have the option to select to have the site private or available to search engines.

You can also add no index tags.

Can I have a user name and password so that only individuals I accept can access my website? I do not know how to do this and would welcome help.
