• There are a few posts that I like to keep both private and sticky, so that when I look at my site they are always there to remind me. For example I have a “Post Ideas” post that I update as I get or finish ideas. Here’s the problem, the admin gui when editing a post only lets you select sticky if the post is public. I get around this right now by selecting private when editing the post and then quick-editing the post and selecting sticky. Works just fine till I go to edit it and then when I save it the “stickiness” is dropped and I have to add it again through the quick-edit dialog. Since both the admin and normal views seem to handle the combination of private and sticky, the restriction of sticky only to public posts seems to be enforced/required solely by the admin gui. Is that something I can easily customize or would it be difficult to change in the core?

Why not ‘not’ post and save as draft? Then on your dashboard, you’ll see your draft posts.

We’re having the same problem – there is a blog that myself and two friends post to, all with the same login (admin account). We separate our individual posts by category, but for our “uncategorized” post, which are generally ideas we’ve had or problems we’ve encountered, we want them to be private, so they only display to *us* when we are logged in, and sticky, so they stay at the top of the front page and we don’t have to remember to look at another page to see if anything’s changed.

We use quick edit to enable stickiness but the posts don’t stay sticky once they have naturally rolled off the front page due to date of posting.

Since there are often links in these ideas/problems posts it’s not very useful to have them show up only as drafts on the dashboard.
