    Hi there.
I’m facing an issue after I have tried to activate adsense but without the aim of showing ads to the website.

I have already removed the website from my adsense account and removed the account also but, even after fully clearing the cache from the server, some urls of the website contains a lot of utm tags or whatever they are that are not user friendly and corrupt some links.

You can see it by scrolling down the page and opening the “portfolio” button on the right, before the faqs. Inside this page, if you go to the footer links such as “come funziona”, “recensioni” are corrupted due to these UTMS.

There is not even the JS code related to the ads into the website, so idk which is the reason for these issues.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I have tried to simply deactivate the plugin and no problems to the urls appeared. So it’s related to site kit and not plugin conflicts.

    Hi @richardzed,

Thanks for reaching out. When you mention this occurs after activating AdSense, the plugin, and in particular AdSense, doesn’t add any tracking code or event tracking to buttons. You’ll find the code that the plugin inserts by visiting the following page on the plugin website:
    https://sitekit.withgoogle.com/documentation/using-site-kit/site-kit-modules-and-your-sites-source-code/#adsense

From checking your site I can see some Google Tag Manager code inserted, with some Google Ads references. Google ads is different to AdSense, and I’m unsure how this was inserted. There is no Google ads functionality within Site Kit. I can also see some iubenda related data within a Google Tag Manager snippet.

To determine what’s occurring, can you check whether you encounter the same behavior if temporarily disabling iubenda? I ask as such plugins can alter Tag Manager and other Google inserted snippets.

    Hi there.
I have disabled Iubenda but still doesn’t change. The only way to fix it is to disable Site Kit so is something related to Google.

I’m sure the UTM tags started appearing after activating Adsense, they were not there before the activation.

Now I have disabled site kit and simply installed GA code and no problems are there, but I would prefer to use site kit.

You can access the website through the link I have sent into the form to reactivate it or deeply check it out.

If you’re using Iubenda then it’s possible that you do have modifications to any Site Kit placed AdSense or other code, based on configurations you’ve applied within Iubenda. You’ll find more details on this here.

You can access the website through the link I have sent into the form to reactivate it or deeply check it out.

As per WordPress support forum guidelines we’re unable to access users sites. If however, you wish to temporarily deactivate Iubenda and activate Site Kit once more, I can check your site again. From when I checked previously you had Google Ads snippets on your site. These are not placed via Site Kit.

    Hi there.
As I stated, the issue appeared after activating the adsense account.
Iubenda and Sitekit were working correctly without problems before Adsense activation.

Even if I keep Sitekit active and Iubenda disabled, the issue will still be there, so is not related at all with Iubenda.

I have sent the form and website access at this link based on Sitekit documentation https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdW7Haw0yputm29AAhscJVmZ4GXK692T4k_mjyqrMigL_GIzw/viewform

Thanks for the update. If you’d like me to check for any unusual behavior I’m happy to check this further although I’ll need to be able to view a Site Kit placed AdSense snippet, to check for any modifications.

Note also that Site Kit doesn’t add any utm tags to a users site upon set up or when connecting any modules. As stated third party plugins can modify a Site Kit placed snippet so if you do decide to activate AdSense once more I’m happy to check for a standard Site Kit placed snippet.

If you’re not planning on using AdSense you can also keep the module disconnected.

As we didn’t receive a response I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist.
