Problem editing media permalinks

  • Hello. I’m trying to edit the permalink of a media file. Each time I try to edit it…hit ok…then update…WordPress adds a -2 or a -3 to the file name. I figure there’s already something else with that permalink, so WordPress is fixing the conflict by adding a -2 or -3.

    If my theory is correct about the cause of the problem, I’d like help understanding how to go find the file that’s causing the conflict…delete it…then hopefully free the permalink back up for use.

    If my theory isn’t correct, I hope you can point me in the right direction.

    Have you tried deleting the appropriate file and re uploading it with the desired name?
