Hello everyone – today is my first day with WordPress and I wish it was going better.

I’ve purchased a host (Bluehost), changed the name servers on GoDaddy to point to WordPress, but I cannot seem to get into the wp-admin page so I can install my theme and get going. I’m trying to get into the admin for my site https://www.hyzy.co, but every time i go to hyzy.co/wp-admin it forwards me to christopherhyzy.wordpress.com/wp-admin.

Can anyone help me figure out why this is happening? Ive tried clearing my browser cache, tried a new browser on a new machine, I just can’t seem to get into my admin page and get working.

If i am supposed to be getting into the .wordpress.com admin, why can’t I see the option to upload a theme?

Your domain name is still directed to WordPress.com.

How long ago did you change the name servers?

When a domain is registered or altered, there is a process called propagation, where information about the domain name is passed to internet service providers all over the world. This process can take up to 72 hours (though usually much less). During that time, your domain may go to its old location, and you may also receive a warning message in your browser about “redirect errors.”

If you still have trouble viewing the site after 48 hours have passed, please try clearing your browser’s cache.

If that doesn’t work, try clearing your local DNS cache: https://support.opendns.com/entries/26336865-Clearing-the-DNS-Cache-on-Computers-Servers-and-Web-Browsers

i switched it over this morning so that might be an issue, if i dont notice it’s fixed by the weekend i’ll have to try some further steps.

Considering that https://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/hyzy.co still shows WordPress.com from all of its servers, I think you might have to save those name servers again.

By now, at least one of those should be showing your new hosting provider instead.

Thanks James – should my name servers be pointed towards the Bluehost ones instead of WordPress?

They should be pointing to your hosting provider, which sounds like BlueHost in this case. ??
