Problem in upgradation and themes installation!!!!!

  • Hello Guys!!!!!

    I am facing a strange problem.

    Today I registered a free account on a webhosting service and installed WordPress using Fantastico auto installer. It installed 2.8.5 version of WordPress on my domain. But I want to upgrade to version 2.8.6. I saw a link in my dashboard for this purpose. I followed that link. It gave me choice to upgrade either automatically or manually. I chosed automatic method. It asked me my ftp server name, my username, and my password. When I provided all these then I received a message that:

    “Unable to locate WordPress Root directory.
    Installation Failed”

    Also when I tried to install some more themes through almost the same steps then I also received a similar message that:

    “Unable to locate WordPress Content directory (wp-content).”

    Whereas this directory is present in my ftp storage.

    Please tell me that where I am making a mistake because I am very new to all this and don’t have enough experience of these tasks.
