    Hi,

I’m trying to install the demo content for the free version of the Virtue theme but I’m getting this error message :

“Some items have not completely installed. This is likely do to your server’s max execution time. Because this plugin logs progress you can re-click the ‘import demo content’ button. Do this until the import is complete.”

Also displaying below this message is the additional error :

“[ERROR] Failed to import “virtue_favicon” (Media) Imported”

It seems many premium users are also experiencing the same problem but I haven’t yet found a solution. I’ve tried re-clicking the import button every few seconds for almost half an hour and I appear to be getting nowhere. Other users have done the same for two hours without success. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Am I able to change my “server’s maximum execution time”? And if so, how?

  • Hey Marcus,

At this point, you should absolutely increase your server’s maximum execution time.

Contact your host and they should be able to increase it for you.

Let me know if that helps!

Thanks for the advice Kevin. I’ve logged a call with my hosting company – I’ll let you know how I get on.

    Hi Kevin,

My hosting company created a php.ini file and increased the max execution time to 300. Unfortunately this didn’t resolve the issue. I tried further increasing it to 600 but again it made no difference. Is it worth trying to increase it even further?

There could also be some security settings blocking your installation of the demo content.

I would continue contact with your host and see if they can make anymore adjustments.

I’ll send this thread over to the theme developer so he can give us some insight, but I think this is still something your host will have to take care of for you.

OK thank you Kevin. Much appreciated. Let me know if you hear anything back from the developer and I’ll let you know if I get a result from my hosting provider.

When you increased the max execution time. Did the importer run longer?

When you go to the media library page do you see all or some of the demo images?

    Hi Ben,

Yes to both of those. I just reset my WordPress database, changed the max execution time to 1200 and ran it again. It seems to have installed a lot of demo content, but then the error message came up again.

It may have installed all the content – I don’t know. When I click again it only runs for a couple of seconds before the error message comes up again. If I click more times, I get lots of duplicate content.

I’ll reset the database again, run the install as before and at the point I get the error message, I’ll do a side by side comparison with your demo site to see if all the content has been installed.

    Hi,

So I did all that. It seems that MOST of the content has been installed. As far as I can see everything except the footer and the post thumbnails is there. I can live without the thumbnails but it would be nice to have footer.

I’m going to reset the database again and ask my hosting company to run the install from their end – unless you have any other suggestions that might help?

    Best Regards

I also just noticed that the two menu items under Home, “Style One” and “Style Two” take me to the Kadence Themes demo page rather than my own.

I also just discovered that I’m lacking the Portfolio Posts – I only have the thumbnails. When I click on them I get a “Not Found” page.

    Hey Marcus,
Can you post a link so I can see how you have things set up?
Have you created and enabled menus from Appearance > Menus?
As for your portfolio posts, try re-saving your permalinks. Got to Settings > Permalinks and save. Does that change anything?

    Hi Hannah,

Thanks for the reply, and for your suggestions – but I think I might have sorted it.

I reset the database again, set the max execution time to 1500(!) and imported the demo content again. I still got the error message after some time, which does concern me, but all the content seems to be there. I have the footer and portfolio posts at least.

I’ll report back if I find any content missing.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help ??
