Problem installing….Not seeing MySQL even though it’s there

Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL which is required for WordPress.

Dedicated server? This message indicates that the installation of PHP doesn’t have the mysql extension installed or turned on. Usually it’s a simple fix by editing the PHP.INI file.

I’ve never edited a PHP.INI. How do you accomplish that?

Well, usually you speak to your hosting provider and let them do it.

I’ve spent hours on your support forums and found lots of people asking the same questions I have. You guys only state the obvious. I’m sorry to say, but you guys are worthless.

Edit the php.ini. Is it too much trouble to show a bit of code so anyone can find what you’re talking about?

I see no answers! Just condescending statements, like “Let the Host provider do it”. In case you guys didn’t notice, most of us are trying to run this stuff ourselves.

In that case you should have the necessary knowledge to do it.
We do not support server setup issues. Your problem is NOT a WP issue, it is about setting up a server. Seek advice in a specialized forum.
