Up until Friday, October 28th, I was able to send out invitations to people to become followers of my blog. I could add ten email addresses at a time and use a custom message.

Now, when I open up the Users page, ‘Follower’ is no longer an option to invite someone to be.

Any advice on how to fix this?

    Thank you!

    Hi there ??

The Users page on WordPress.com has had a recent update. For Email Followers, there should now be a “Email Subscribers” tab on the Users page which you can use for the same purpose.

Thank you, Sami. However, that does not solve my problem. In the new version, I can only subscribe people whose permission to do so. In the old version, I could invite anyone whose email address I had to become a follower. I was also able to include a custom message.

Thanks for clarifying. I’ll share your feedback, though I’m not aware of any plans to revert to the previous interface for inviting users in that fashion.

One thing you might consider is manually sending invite emails out from your email address. You could share a link to a page on your website with the Subscribe Block added to it:

That way people could opt-in to receiving notifications of new posts.
