• I’m moving some sites from a cPanel installation where they were installed on “addon domains”. I’m getting problems where they return errors showing paths in the code referring to the folders/paths from my cPanel hosting.

e.g. this site is moving to mrkeefe.co.uk (working site still live as I haven’t changed the DNS over yet, am using a site preview function to check the site before flipping it) from a cPanel account where it was an addon domain beneath nikkeefe.co.uk. Here are some of the errors on screen:

Warning: is_dir() [function.is-dir]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/home/nikkeefe/public_html/mrkeefe.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/wpcf7_uploads/) is not within the allowed path(s): (/tmp:/var/sites) in /var/sites/m/mrkeefe.co.uk/public_html/wp-content/plugins/contact-form-7/modules/file.php on line 316

Warning: file_exists() [function.file-exists]: open_basedir restriction in effect. Is there anything I can do about this in migration to prevent it happening??

  • It’s a server configuration issue. Try contact your hosts.

OK, thanks. Can you give me any more detail on what I should ask them or suggestions for how to correct it?

Or is it perhaps something that I can fix in the options I pick when exporting the WP database using phpMyAdmin?

In case anyone else reads this – I managed to resolve the problem by editing the incorrect paths in the wp_options table in my database.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to export the database in such a way that it edits these paths on the way out?
