I just migrated the blog to a new hosting company’s server, and I cannot access it.

Trying to access the blog itself, or the dashboard, brings up a blank screen with this error message:

Warning: main(/homepages/18/d222955516/htdocs/blog/wp-includes/compat.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /homepages/18/d222955516/htdocs/blog/wp-settings.php on line 117

Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/homepages/18/d222955516/htdocs/blog/wp-includes/compat.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /homepages/18/d222955516/htdocs/blog/wp-settings.php on line 117

I have changed the config to point to the new db info. Is there anything else that has to be changed?

The path on this server is different – my blog lives at /blog rathe than /public_html/blog … but is there anywhere to update that info?

    Thanks!

  • Assuming your domain’s name servers now point to the new host, please review Moving WordPress.

I did everything just as it said.

Only expection was not “going back to the old bog and changing the URLs to the new…”, which was moot since I transferred the domain ad the URLs are thus the same.

Then consider deleting the wordpress files and reuploading them. Maybe something happened where you didn’t get a clean upload of files.

Oy! If it isn’t one thing…

Deciding that I almost certainly did not even HAVE a clean copy of the files, I uploaded the 2.3.1 update that I had sitting on my desktop waiting — which was probably foolish of me, in hindsight, as it introduces more variables.

Now, as far as I can tell, the WP install is okay, but it cannot access the database (to view the blog or perform the update).

Should I (can I?) download a 2.3 version (which is what is WAS) and reinstall that, just to try to get the db problem resolved? I don’t think it will help, but at this point I don’t want to rule anything out…

Actually, not any difference between the 2.3 and 2.3.1 database so using 2.3.1 files should be okay.

    Okay, that’s a relief.

But *something* is still not working with the database access. See my thread here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/141997
