    Hello,

I was in the process of moving my WordPress site to my document root. I backed everything up, then changed the path in Settings to my root folder. After that I copied the contents of my WordPress folder to my document root. Once I did all that, the new site didn’t show up under it’s URL. At this point after restoring some files I can see my WordPress site but can’t login to it (even after I changed the path back to my WordPress folder).

I just need to be able to login to the site and try this whole process again.

At this point when I try to login I get:

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/smithg5/public_html/sgwp/wp-content/plugins/revslider/inc_php/framework/include_framework.php:41) in /home/smithg5/public_html/sgwp/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 1121

Any help is appreciated. Also, I think I’m at WP 3.9 but it could be 3.8.3

    Thanks,
    Dane Petersen

Ok, if it fails again, please do leave it as-is, thanks!

Ok, so WordPress loads at index.php, which is alphabetically loaded after index.html.

Do you have an index.html file in the root? If so, rename that to oldindex.html, and you should see WordPress load instead.

That makes sense, but I’ve done this before with other sites and never had that issue. Could that be just because of this site in particular, or is that something new when working with WordPress?

That worked, and barring any plugin issues I think this is resolved. Thanks!

Not really, it’s kind of web 101. Indexes load alphabetically. ??

You could certainly configure the server to load index.php first, but re-naming or removing index.html is easier, especially if you don’t plan to use it for a long time.

    You’re welcome!
