Problem on moving wordpress from sub folder to root

To do this I read the topic “Using a pre-existing subdirectory install” on the link https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory
Finally, at step 6(Login to your site … The URL should still be https://example.com/wordpress/wp-admin/), it says but I can’t log in to https://example.com/wordpress/wp-admin/
Step 7 is to update the permalink.
But I can’t pass step 6.
Any hep is highly appreciated.
