• Suddenly, seemingly since getting updated to v.2.8.4,
only admistrators can publish posts. When anyone else attempts to publish a post, say an Author, the writing process goes fine, you hit the Publish button, you get feedback that the post has been published. But when you go to the page(s) the post should have been been published to, the post is not there.
When you log in as administrator, you can see that the Post has been classified as a Draft and not as published. As administrator you can go to the edit page for such a post by an author, hit the Publish button, then it gets published.
So seemingly when anyone other than admiistrator hits the Publish button on the Write or Edit Post page it merely saves the post as a Draft, and does not in fact publish it.

    Thanks much for any help!

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems?

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
