• First of all .. im on mu. So if you guys think this should go on the MU forums let me know. But I wanted to throw it out here as well.

    I’m having problems sharing links on facebook. I’ll post the full url to my post and for some reason it’ll only display the base url of the blog as the link and not the full url (with the date, name of post etc.). I know when it works it displays the full url along with a couple pics from the blog post and the title. As i mentioned before, im on MU and its a handful of blogs that have this problem. It seems to mess the link up for Digg purposes as well. I know this is kind of an odd problem but I figured i’d throw it out there to see if anyone has had this problem and/or could offer a suggestion.

    Thanks

  • Hi. I’m struggling w/ a related problem & wonder if you ever found a solution.

    The news organization I work for uses the Newsport theme. When we share links to our stories on Facebook, instead of printing the first few sentences of the story, it prints gobbledygook that appears to be information embedded in the hyperlink about the post author or user. In other words:

    It’s not green cheese, but it might as well be.

    What should we change?

    I think i found the solution. According to facebook you needs these on your posts:

    In order to generate a Share preview successfully, a website must include the following three meta tags in its source HTML:

    <meta name=”title” content=”Article headline here” />
    <meta name=”description” content=”Article summary here” />
    <link rel=”image_src” href=”https://www.example.com&#8221; />

    Now why it used to work if you never had this info? i have no idea. maybe they recently changed their policies. but you can easliy add this info via custom fields in every post.
