    Hi

I created all pages of my website using the default theme as I was not interested in the design at the beginning. I was able to create pages with pictures. Now I am using Analytical as theme and I want to add another page with some picture. The “add media” link does not work. When I click on that, nothing happens. If I click on featured media on the right hand side instead, it let me go to the nornal page to upload media but when I press “insert to the post”, I get a blank page.

What’s going on? Would anyone be so kind as to help me out to resolve the issue?

    Thanks
    M

  • If you temporarily revert the theme back to TwentyTwelve does the “Add Media” link work? If so, then the issue is with your theme.

If it still doesn’t work, then the next step is to temporarily disable all plugins and see if the “Add Media” link works. If it does, then you know one (or more) of the plugins must be causing the issue and can identify which one(s) by the process of elimination.

I went back to twenty eleven and the “add media” does not work either. I have disabled all the plugin and still it does not work.

I have also tried to check with the pages where there is a pictured but “add media” does not work.

That’s peculiar. Do you have JavaScript disabled in your web browser, or something that might be preventing JavaScript from running?

OK – After many tries I found a way to add media. Basically “Add media” did not work so I did a right click on “featured media” on the right handside of the dashboard and opened it in a new tab. As my previous post, “insert in the post” takes to a blank page. I closed this blank page tab but the media was correctly added. I don’t have any idea why it happens as it was working fine before.

Now I have another problem. All the images onto all pages are iperlinks. If I click on the images, it takes me to a page with the image itself. Is there anyway to remove that iperlink on each image?

Let’s stay focused on the original problem with the “Add Media” link, please.

The “Add Media” link should trigger a JavaScript function that reveal the Insert Media dialog box. It sounds like something is preventing that JavaScript from being executed, based on the description you have provided. This problem is typically caused by a theme or a plugin loading jQuery incorrectly, but we’ve eliminated that possibility by testing with a default theme and also disabling all the plugins. Is there anything else that might be interfering with the JavaScript execution that you can think of?

    Sure.

I wrote the pages with media sometime ego so the only difference with now are the following:
    1) I installed a microsoft security essential and I removed panda from my computer.
    2) By mistake, I wrongly changed the url of wordpress and home in general settings. I did not have access to my admin page for some time. My hosting provider solved the issue as I tried many times to change funtions.php and wp-config by myself but nothing worked.

Ok, I don’t think MSE blocks or disables JavaScript.

But the changes you mention in Item 2 might possibly break the “path” to such things as the JavaScript.

By any chance, are you using Google Chrome for your web browser? I ask because if you right click and choose “Inspect Element”, it gives you access to an item called the “Console.” If you try using the “Add Media” link with the Console visible, it may give us a specific error message (like a 404/Not Found, for example) that will help us pinpoint the cause.

No I am not. I am using IE. By the way I tried to use chrome and follow the same workaround method but it does not work. It does not add any media. Therefore it only works with IE.

Fortunately, IE also has a console. There should be a little “gear/wheel” in the top right corner of your browser window. If you click that wheel, a drop down menu should appear, and you can choose “F12 Developer Tools” from that menu. The bottom portion of your window will reveal a separate pane, and one of the tabs on that pane should be console. After you click on that tab, you can start seeing any error messages as you manipulate the “Add Media” link.

I cannot see any error. Which tab are you referring to? HTML, CSS, script or profile?

On IE 10, the “Console” tab appears after CSS and before Script. Are you using a different version of IE?

If I press F12, a window comes up. I have on top left hand side the following in order:
    HTML, CSS, Script and profiler.

Maybe it is better to use chorme so I can use developer tool?

I have noticed that even if I want to add an hyperlink, the pop up windows does not come up.

Forgot to mention that I am using IE8.

    Hi

Would anyone be so kind as to help me out with this issue? I could find a workaround to add media but now I can not make an hyperlink.

It is very urgent – I hope one of you will help me.

    Thanks
