• I developed a wordpress site on a spare domain so I could keep my old site going while the new one was being created. Both sites are with the same hosting firm. WordPress was working fine on the spare site but ran into problems when I transferred it to its new URL. My hosting firm told me all I had to do was change the URL in the settings and upload to the new site. The database and the php config stayed the same.

The new site is ok in every way except for the photos. They all disappeared because they were still linked to the old site. I’ve changed the code so they now point to the correct directory so that’s all right.

The problem I have is when I try to upload new photos. It won’t let me do it because it is still trying to link to the old directory. How do I change this so I can upload more photos. Changing the URL in the settings obviously wasn’t enough. What else do I need to do?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks. I’ve now got the site working properly. For anyone with a similar problem, it was just a case of going into miscellaneous settings and changing the uploads folder to the default, wp-content/uploads.

However, there is still one problem. The simple hit counter no longer works. It is still there and it is still activated but it is no longer working. I am just seeing dashes where I should be seeing numbers. I can’t find any information on how I should fix this. If anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful.
