Problem upgrading from 4.5 to 4.5.1

  • Hi,

    I have just tried to upgrade from version 4.5 to 4.5.1 and received the following message:
    ‘Update Failed: The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions’

    Can you please give me some advise as to how I should go about resolving the problem but please bear in mind I am a family historian and not a web designer.

    I have previously had no problems in updating versions of Contact Form 7 and immediately after receiving the error I successfully updated a different plugin.

    Once deactivate and remove the plugin, and then try reinstalling it.

    Many thanks for your reply, before I follow your instructions can I please ask one further question:

    When I have deactivated and removed the plugin ‘Contact Form 7’ will I still have a working contact Form on my website or do I need to make alternative contact arrangements just in case version 4.5.1 fails to upload?

    Of course contact forms stop working after you deactivate Contact Form 7. If you are anxious about current contact form data, you should export it before deactivating.
