Can anyone tell me if they are having problems recently with text from Algolia being injected into Pinterest pin summary text?
Recently (we only noticed in the last couple of days but it may be longer) we have found that some of our image pins in Pinterest show the text “Algolia helps businesses across industries quickly create relevant, scalable, and lightning fast Search and Discovery experiences.” below the pinterest title on pinterest boards and follow pages.
I cannot work out if this plugin is causing it, or if it Algolia itself.
Algolia told me they could not replicate the issue.
If I doa Google search for “pinterest Algolia helps businesses across industries quickly create relevant, scalable, and lightning fast Search and Discovery experiences.” I also see lots of other website pins on Pinterest with the same issue. But I cannot find anyone discussing a solution.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

First I’ve personally heard of this but I can definitely see it showing through on your linked pinterest board. Not seeing that string in the source code from our copy in GitHub, but it is possible that along the way some extra scripts are linked and inserted that may be contributing here. Just a matter of seeing if any show up that add this.

    Very odd.

    Thanks for checking that Michael.
Algolia also got back to me saying they cannot see any problem.
I am disabling Algolia on our sites today for now to check if the issues is fixed.
It might be a clash between multiple plugins. So I will wait until I can find someone else with the issue who might have a solution before reactivating.

We’re looking to dig into this one soon as we’ve had a separate thread come up with the same issue.

The WP Search with Algolia plugin itself has no control over the media or text that Pinterest uses for pins.

The Pinterest issue described appears to be related to Pinterest’s scraper being a little too aggressive and following a link offsite in the autocomplete template.

Once we identified what the issue appeared to be, we moved the autocomplete template (and the Algolia JS libs) from the header to the footer, where Pinterest’s scraper has less of a chance of accidentally following that link offsite.

We have just released WP Search with Algolia 1.5.0 to implement that change.

Please note that Pinterest does cache the results of URLs it has previously scraped. We have no control over that.
