• I’m using a carousel view shortcode with Type 2 style. There is a problem with the navigation when I look at it on mobile – I can’t page through the events. After I tap the left arrow one or two times, the carousel advances ahead to the last event, skipping all the others. After that happens, when I tap the left arrow, it advances but then goes back to the last event, and then it gets stuck there and won’t navigate at all.

This happens no matter what I have the event limit set to. I do have some custom CSS code added, but I tested this with the custom CSS code disabled and I get the same result. I also tried it on a different test page (https://denverastro.jeffersonpowers.com/test-page/), also same result. I tested it in the Twenty Twenty One theme with all the other plugins deactivated, also same result.

I am using WordPress version 5.8 and Modern Events Calendar Lite Version 5.21.5.

    Hello @jeffersonpowers,

On my end, I didn’t see the same issue. Here.

Please create a new shortcode without any customization and check your issue again.

For troubleshooting (again), please deactivate all your plugins and let the MEC remain active only, set your theme on default, then reload the page, if the issue was solved, then activate your plugins one by one and your theme, refresh your page and check to see which plugin is causing the issue.

    Please keep us informed,

    Best Regards

Hi. When you say you’re not seeing the issue, do you mean that you don’t see it on my website, or just that you’re not able to recreate the issue?

Please remember, this is only happening in the mobile view, so you will need to look at it on a mobile browser, or in a mobile emulator such as Chrome’s developer tools.

    Hello @jeffersonpowers,

No, we’ve checked on our end, and we didn’t see the same issue on mobile view.
Did you deactivate plugins for troubleshooting? What is the result?

We guess on your website, you encountered conflicts with theme or plugins.

I’ve tried it twice now with all other plugins turned off, and the theme switched to Twenty TwentyOne, and there is no change. I am getting the same result, so no, it is definitely not a theme or plugin conflict.

Did you look at the link I provided (https://denverastro.jeffersonpowers.com/test-page/) on a mobile device or in developer tools? I want to make sure you understand what the issue is – when you tap the right arrow it moves normally, but when you tap it a second time it rapidly advances to the last event. From there, when you tap the left arrow, it moves to the next-to-last event, but then when you tap either arrow it goes back to the last event, and remains stuck there.

Can you please provide a link to your test or demo page, so I can see the Type 2 style carousel working normally on mobile? Thank you.

@webnus UPDATE — this issue appears to only be happening in Chrome (on Windows or Android) and in the Samsung Internet mobile browser on Android. It does not happen in Firefox or Microsoft Edge (I don’t have the ability to test in any other browsers).

So it looks to be a Chrome/Android issue. Can you test and confirm?

    Hello @jeffersonpowers,

On my end, I didn’t see that issue: https://webnus.biz/support/staff-1/mec-id68/.
Would you please provide some info on the plugins and the theme you have?

    Best Regards

I’ve tested it several times with the Twenty Twenty-One theme and no other plugins active, and still got the same issue. Normally my site is running the Pinnacle theme (free version) and the following plugins:

      Kadence Blocks
Page-List (installed after this issue started)
      UpDraft Plus
      Virtue/Ascend/Pinnacle Toolkit
      Wordfence Security
      WP-Optimize

I routinely run these plugins on dozens of websites and have never run into any problems with any of them. Again, I did test with all other plugins turned off and still got the issue I’m describing.

Can you at least confirm that you are seeing the issue when you look at my site?

@webnus also, can you please tell me the exact settings you have in place for the demo page you linked to in your earlier comment?

I’ve narrowed this down to an issue with the autoplay setting. I have autoplay turned off for my carousel, but after I click past the first event, the autoplay starts up anyway. The autoplay had been set to “1” which I didn’t think mattered since I had it turned off. I don’t really want the carousel items to move on their own, only when someone clicks the navigation buttons.

So it appears that turning autoplay off doesn’t actually turn it off completely. The carousel starts moving on its own once you click the right arrow once. Is that correct?
