• Hello,

I have been using this theme as a parent theme for a webcomic in spanish, and we are going to release the translation into english soon. For this I am using the WPML plugin. I am having an issue with the language switching: when I am on the homepage ( https://www.alymphslife.com ), switching to an other language will not bring me to the homepage in that other language ( https://www.alymphslife.com/en/ ), but to the comic archive page ( https://www.alymphslife.com/en/comic ).
(I write the URLs to see here because right now the english version is not publicly visible: I will not publish it until this issue is solved!)
I understand that this issue must be some incompatibility with the whole javascript navigation of the comics in the frontpage and the said multilingual plugin.
What I am wondering is if I could in some way overwrite or disable the comic archive so it would just display the frontpage instead?
Thanks a lot for any help with this.
    Zahara

  • Zahara, it sounds like some redirect functionality in the WPML plugin is not working correctly if https://www.alymphslife.com/en/ is redirecting to https://www.alymphslife.com/en/comic – have you tried asking WPML about this? As a paid plugin they do offer support and might be able to help you find a workaround. Perhaps there’s a manual override you could set for the homepage, where you could manually specify the English URL?

Panel is designed to display an archive above the main blog and I’m not sure if simply hiding that archive or even removing it in a child theme would solve this issue, since WPML may still detect that the archive page at https://www.alymphslife.com/comic exists. There is a way to deactivate the entire comic custom post type, would that work for you or did you still want to use it?
