problem with custom id used in custom theme

  • Hello, we love this plug-in and have used it in the past on website.

    Right now we’re building a new website using the Goodnews theme from Themeforest. It’s a very popular and commonly used news website style theme.

    The problem we’re having is that for Video posts it stores the YouTube ID in a special content box but it only uses the actual video ID in the content box, not the full url (i.e. https://youtube.com/XXXXXX).

    The plug-in is having a problem pulling the ID on these videos posts and cannot generate any thumbnails for these posts.

    This is a huge problem for use because we just spent the last two weeks building over 6,000 video posts and our website is supposed to launch next week.

    Is there any way we can get a work-around to get this plug-in to use the truncated ID provided instead of full YouTube url?

    Please let us know. We really feel stuck and don’t know where else to get help with this.

    Of course you can do it:

    Open video-thumbnail.php
    About line 285 find:

    // Filter for extensions to modify what markup is scanned
$markup = apply_filters( 'video_thumbnail_markup', $markup, $post_id );

    Change to:

    // Filter for extensions to modify what markup is scanned
$markup = "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=".$markup;
$markup = apply_filters( 'video_thumbnail_markup', $markup, $post_id );

    Upload it to the server.

    Of course you have to set up the correct custom field name in the settings of te script.

    works if you use youtube videos only!
