Strangely, it seems that the options are there after the settings have been saved, the site is exited and then a new session is started….

Is there any way to control the size of the featured image?

Is there any way to use the meta-description rather than the opening of the article?

The featured image displayed follows the sidebar content width dimensions and unless you modify your sidebar width, there’s no way to control that at this time.

I’m confused by this question. The options in the widget uses an excerpt if one is set in the post, otherwise it uses a summary of the post itself. What is the “meta-description” that you’re referring to? Once I have that information, I’ll be better able to answer. ??

Let me know if you have any questions.

I think it is the same as you are talking about. Yoast (SEO) allows me to set a “meta-description”, which is what appears in Google and when I share the post on social media, rather than the first lines of the post.

The Display WordPress Post widget uses the excerpt as set here: screenshot

Thus, it’s not possible to pull in data set in the Yoast SEO plugin into this widget.

I hope that clarifies things! Marking as resolved as the widget works as expected.
