• On my page https://www.rogner.cz I have problem with encoding and included menu.

    Charset for my blog is UTF-8, all is OK.

    When I included menu to header.php, I see Czech characters in menu badly.

    And when I change charset to windows-1250, in menu is all OK but in blog is all in wrong charatercs.

    Do you know where I can change charset only for menu?

    Here is my header.php:

    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN” “https://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd”&gt;
    <html xmlns=”https://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml”&gt;

    <head profile=”https://gmpg.org/xfn/11″&gt;
    <meta http-equiv=”Content-Type” content=”<?php bloginfo(‘html_type’); ?>; charset=<?php bloginfo(‘charset’); ?>” />

    <title><?php bloginfo(‘name’); ?><?php wp_title(); ?></title>

    <meta name=”generator” content=”WordPress <?php bloginfo(‘version’); ?>” /> <!– leave this for stats –>

    <style type=”text/css” media=”screen”>
    @import url( <?php bloginfo(‘stylesheet_url’); ?> );
    </style>

    <link rel=”alternate” type=”application/rss+xml” title=”RSS 2.0″ href=”<?php bloginfo(‘rss2_url’); ?>” />
    <link rel=”alternate” type=”text/xml” title=”RSS .92″ href=”<?php bloginfo(‘rss_url’); ?>” />
    <link rel=”alternate” type=”application/atom+xml” title=”Atom 0.3″ href=”<?php bloginfo(‘atom_url’); ?>” />
    <link rel=”pingback” href=”<?php bloginfo(‘pingback_url’); ?>” />

    <?php wp_get_archives(‘type=monthly&format=link’); ?>

    <?php wp_head(); ?>
    </head>

    <body>

    <div id=”wrapper”>

    <div id=”header”>
    <h1>“><?php bloginfo(‘name’); ?></h1>
    </div>

    <ul id=”navlist”>

  • You simply have to use a text editor that has utf-8 support when saving your own menu.php file.
    Your problem is that the special characters in your menu.php file are saved with windows-1250 encoding, while the rest of the WP is utf-8.
