Problem with Images on my site

Since upgrading to 3.9 version of WP, I am having difficulty with images on my site. I am set up with a two-column format, narrow column on the right side. All of my images in the main, wider column are fine. The problem is with images and buttons in the narrow RH column. They are all gone, but replaced with the typical ‘image icon’. Any ideas on why this is happening and how I can fix it?
