problem with instalation in subdom

  • Hello

    I am tryinhg to install WP in my subdominio, but after all the basic steps, when I try to enter I get this message:

    Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in /home/domains/apoe.art.br/web/chegancas.apoe.art.br/wp-includes/option.php on line 225

    Can anyone help me?

  • Check your version of php on your host, WordPress requires PHP greater then 5.2.4. Refer to the requirements documentation:

    I’ve installed a lower version of WP, the 3.1.2. one. And now, it is work.
    What are the adventages of changing to the newest one?

    You should really keep up with WordPress, as features are added to the core all the time, and theme developers routinely take advantage of these features so you will find that:

    • You may not be able to run newer themes on your site, or that certain features, like for example custom headers will not work
    • It is a good idea to keep up to date from a security perspective.

    Any host worth their salt will support PHP5+ so you should rather contact your host and find out how to activate php5 on your server, and then install the latest version of WordPress.
