    wordpress is looking for this file
    wp-includes/wp-db.php
    make sure all of the files made the upload

    yes, but there are many of these errors when this starts happening… I’m experiencing it, too, trying to go from a fresh host auto-install of WordPress 2.3x, replacing everything but the wp-config.php at the root (which I’ve updated to the 2.7.1 version, manually copying and pasting the pertinent access information)

    I’m getting this at an account that uses php5.2.3 and that has safe mode on (not sure if that is okay or not)

    Anyway, the errors start with the install OR the upgrade files, always about missing required files…

    BUT, I can look and definitely see those files are there… sigh. I’ve never had this kind of trouble even with another domain on the same server…

    There is a thread advises to work up through 2.3 – 2.5 – 2.6 – 2.7

    I forget exactly where but I saw it here today. There are ‘secret password’ issues in 2.5, for instance, that you need to deal with rather than just plonk from 2.3 to 2.7.1 – I THINK

    whooami above says:
    umm..

    upgrade to 2.3.3
    upgrade to 2.5.1 <– wont hurt, depends on how much time you have
    upgrade to 2.6.5
    upgrade to 2.7.1

    Uninstalled WordPress to reinstall using MySQL 5 instead of 4. I uploaded all the files to the WP directory and then attempt to go to wp-admin/install.php and get the following error:

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function is_wp_error() in /homepages/14/d91150028/htdocs/quantumrbs/WP/wp-settings.php on line 257

    On line 257 of the wp-settings.php file is:

    if ( is_wp_error($prefix) )
    wp_die(/*WP_I18N_BAD_PREFIX*/’ERROR: $table_prefix in wp-config.php can only contain numbers, letters, and underscores.’/*/WP_I18N_BAD_PREFIX*/);

    Can anyone help with this? Thanks in advance.

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function almost always means files did not make the upload
    I would upload the files again

    Hello Samboll,

    You are exactly correct. I kept experiencing interrupts in my uploads earlier, so I examined each directory and was able to see that there was a great deal that didn’t upload.

    I have it installed now, and it is working great! Thanks.

    Upgrade wordpress 2.3to 2.7.1 . I uploaded all the files to the WP directory and then attempt to go to wp-admin/upgrade.php and get the following error:

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_generate_password() in /home/apoteker/public_html/wp-admin/includes/schema.php on line 258

    I have upload the files again but it still not work.

    Can anyone help with this? Thanks in advance.
